Had some fun at our first race in Owosso Speedway this season!
A full field of 24 mods were there tonight.
We qualified 5th (in only our second session on the track all season)!
Then Evan was able to WIN the fast cars (top 6 qualifiers) heat from the outside groove - in a surprisingly exciting heat race!
But our lack of experience on that track this season got us in the feature.
- We were inverted back to a P9 starting spot
- and after falling back as far as P14
- made it back up to the P9 spot for the checkered flag
We just got stuck in the wrong groove too many times (having to brake behind cars that held up the whole lane, while losing spots to the other lane). Just gotta' get better at navigating thru the slower traffic earlier - before we lose too much ground to make up.
But it was still a really fun night...

The plan for tomorrow is finally to get to race at Owosso Speedway this season!
Unfortunately Evan was assigned to work tonight (originally off) and doesn't complete his shift until 6am tomorrow (praying for a quiet night from the criminal element so he makes it home on time).
If all goes well we head up without him and he has to get up in time to meet us for the first on track session!
Sure hope it all works out (and he's not too grumpy from getting little sleep). 🙂

Ahhh I remember the night shift days 🤣
Had a lot of fun racing @ Birch Run Speedway last night.
Started 7th/finished 6th. A more exciting race than that looks like - lots of passing was going on...
The car was better than that finish with the feature adjustments we made - but we put ourselves in a bad starting spot with our poor qualifying time (and doing the last 10 plus laps in a slippery cloud of oil dry added an unexpected challenge).
Still have work to do on improving that early part of the day.
